Bridgeland Land Development
R.G. Miller | DCCM
Bridgeland is an 11,500-acre master-planned community developed by the Howard Hughes Corporation located in Cypress, Texas, between US 290 and IH 10 that R.G. Miller | DCCM has helped design.
(1) Parkland Square, a neighborhood located in Parkland Village, is a 178-home development that is being designed with pathways and streets linking to homes, parks, and future commercial venues. In addition, the neighborhood will be the first in the community to expand the use of rain gardens to filter rainwater before it enters storm drains and the community’s lake system. Parkland Square’s 11 rain gardens will be placed to capture runoff from pavement and park spaces. R.G. Miller | DCCM designed paving infrastructure and the rain gardens and incorporated parallel parking spaces so parked cars don’t block the streets, as is the case with most contemporary developments.
(2) Lakeland Heights in Bridgeland introduced the greater Houston community to traditional neighborhood development (TND), a classic neighborhood style like the Heights and West University Place. It was designed as a small town with a Village Center and private alleys at the rear of each home. It is the first of four distinct villages designed by R.G. Miller | DCCM.
(3) Parkland Village is 1200 acres of land with 350 acres of parks, lakes, and trails. R.G. Miller | DCCM is responsible for designing sections of the development that will contain 34- to 60-foot lots for about 290 home sites.
(4) Prairieland Village is Bridgeland’s third village. R.G. Miller | DCCM is designing four 180- to 290-lot sections that will be traditional residential designs.
